In the summer term 2015, we ran an after-school music group with Crosshouse school supported classes. Pupils from Crosshouse school took part in a mixture of one-to-one and group sessions.

  •  Learning instruments
  • Creating group compositions
  • Singing
  • Listening

The project culminated in a sharing sessions, showing families what we had been working on. We used the theme of 'space' and developed music around ideas of space and the planets. It was lovely to watch the respect that pupils have for each other when listening to each other demonstrate what they have learnt in individual sessions. Each member of the group had something they are particularly interested in; lyric writing, rhythm, singing, song writing, piano playing, guitar, pitch or harmony. This allowed us to work on a very diverse range of music and meant that everybody's listening and turn-taking skills were enhanced.
